Making tablet publishing more affordable for small publishers and agencies

Zaandam, The Netherlands (June 28, 2011) – WoodWing has extended its hosted Content Delivery Service (CDS), which enables publishers to efficiently manage and distribute the content of their tablet editions. The new CDS Go! Packages are aimed at tablet publishing start-ups, smaller publishers and agencies. Starting at just 349 Euros per month, it’s now more affordable than ever to enter the future of publishing. High availability, transparency and cost efficiency continue to be the main characteristics of the service, especially in a multi-platform tablet-publishing environment.

Well-known major newspaper and magazine publishers around the world are using WoodWing´s Tablet Publishing Solution for the creation of the tablet editions of their media brands. As part of the solution, WoodWing´s Content Delivery Service allows publishers to deliver the digital issues of their daily, weekly and monthly tablet editions to the reader´s tablet of choice in a safe and reliable manner. WoodWing´s CDS is the most transparent solution on the market, enabling publishers to easily calculate their tablet-publishing activities. Payment for the service happens on a monthly basis without the need to pre-pay several months ahead of time. Also, publishers do not have to share any of their tablet revenue with WoodWing.

New CDS Go! Packages aimed at starters, smaller publishers and agencies
In general, the distribution of digital content can be charged either on the basis of the data traffic or on the number of downloads. Models based on traffic tend to be more attractive for publishers distributing higher volumes.

With its existing service packages – Basic, Standard and Pro – WoodWing´s CDS supports traffic-based billing. In addition, WoodWing now offers two new CDS Go! Packages, providing a defined number of downloads. The new offerings are targeted at publishers just starting their tablet-publishing activities, as well as smaller publishers and agencies.

The CDS Go! S package is priced at just 349 Euros per month and includes 500 downloads, while the CDS Go! M package costs 599 Euros per month and includes 2,000 downloads. Both packages allow the purchase of additional downloads at a cost of 0.39 and 0.12 Euros. Included in the price are licenses for WoodWing’s best-in-class Reader Pro tablet Apps for all relevant tablet platforms supporting in-app purchasing, Apple’s subscriptions on the iPad and many more features that allow publishers to successfully publish, analyze and monetize their content.

Corporate publishing and communications agencies creating tablet publications for several clients will especially appreciate the Go! M package, which enables the distribution of several tablet publications under a single CDS contract.

"WoodWing’s CDS is proving itself day-in and day-out,” said Hans Janssen, CEO of WoodWing. “Every two seconds, a publication is downloaded to a tablet using this service. We have been able to create a worldwide distribution network that delivers the best possible download performance. Adding CDS Go! to the portfolio enables every organization, small and large, to make use of this infrastructure.”

WoodWing´s Content Delivery Service offers a future-proof roadmap
As a hosted solution, the CDS does not require any upfront investments. There's no need for hardware on the customer´s side, taking maintenance and upgrade costs out of the equation. New CDS functionality automatically becomes available to all customers. In addition, the content stored on the CDS is 100 percent cross-platform, enabling publishers to easily distribute their tablet editions to Apple´s iPad, HP´s TouchPad, RIM´s Playbook as well as to Samsung´s Galaxy Tabs and other Android-based devices.

WoodWing´s CDS also provides publishers with an easy-to-use Web interface, enabling them to send push notifications to readers, manage subscriptions, and upload tablet content with little technical expertise needed.
