Having worked more then seven years for Unilever in different management positions, Malte joined the media industry in 2001 as CFO of Verlagsgruppe Milchstrasse, an important magazine publishing group in Hamburg. After the successful restructuring of the group and integration into the Burda Media Malte took over in 2005 the position as CEO of dpa Deutsche Presse-Agentur the leading German news agency. At dpa he was responsible for example for the strategic shift to develop digital services and technological solutions, the design and implementation of a new editorial system and the consolidation of central editorial functions in Berlin. From 2011 to 2015 Malte von Trotha joined as CFO Styria Media Group, the second largest media group in Austria. In this position he was also responsible for all central digital and technology functions, group development, video and audio production, the magazine business and corporate publishing. In 2015 he moved back to Hamburg to establish his own consulting business for media and digital/technology companies. He also invests early stage in start ups with the focus on technology and media.
