Cathrin Kahlweit is the Correspondent for Central Eastern Europe at Süddeutsche Zeitung, where she covers Ukraine, Hungary, Austria, Slowakia, Slowenia. Cathrin has been an editor at Süddeutsche Zeitun since 1989 covering different roles.
She holds a M.A. from University of Göttingen and she studied Political Science and Slavic Studies at University of Oregon, USA, and at University of Tübingen, Germany as well as the Pushkin-Institute in Russia.
Cathrin is also the author of several books on Eastern Europe, female careers in politics and famous women of the 20th century.
