Fairfax Media’s Australian Metro Publishing group upgrades to the Newscycle Cloud platform for managing all print readership for The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Sun-Herald and The Australian Financial Review

Bloomington, MN, January 3, 2018 – Newscycle Solutions, the leading provider of software technologies for the global media industry, is pleased to announce that the Australian Metro Publishing (AMP) division of Fairfax Media Limited is live on an upgraded Newscycle Circulation platform, hosted in the Amazon AWS cloud.

With 280 users, the Newscycle Circulation system is managing all home delivery, single copy sales, distribution, billing and customer services functions for Fairfax titles including The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Sun-Herald and The Australian Financial Review. The Sydney Morning Herald is the most widely read newspaper in Australia, reaching over five million readers in print and online each month.

“Over a three-month period, Fairfax and Newscycle worked closely together to successfully move Fairfax to a managed service environment,” said Trish Farrugia, Technology Director, Customer Systems at Fairfax Media. “Throughout this project communication was open and clear, which ensured any issues encountered were overcome quickly and allowing our tight timelines to be met.”

One of the key components of the Newscycle Circulation system at Fairfax is Insight, a business intelligence application that lets users analyze and act upon subscriber data to help increase revenue and improve customer service. Newscycle Circulation also has a built-in subscriber list matching module, and the system manages all credit card tokenization processes for Fairfax via a Hosted Order Page. In addition, the Fairfax AMP team has taken advantage of the openness of the Newscycle Circulation platform, developing their own subscriber portal based on the Newscycle Customer Service, Circulation and Distribution API’s.

“The cutover was very smooth with no major issues encountered, which was a great result for our business,” said Farrugia. “There were many benefits for Fairfax with the major being PCI compliance. I would like to thank both Fairfax and Newscycle teams for working as one to make this project so successful.”

“This project was a monumental team effort on behalf of the combined Newscycle Circulation and Fairfax team,” said Bryan Hooley, Newscycle’s Vice President of EMEA/APAC Sales. “We are grateful that Fairfax chose to extend its longstanding partnership with Newscycle, and we appreciate the significant contributions from everyone who helped make this go-live a success.”
