The new cloud-based system provides access for both newsrooms, improves collaboration and consolidates web and print content management

December 11, 2017, Norwalk, CT – Miles 33 is pleased to announce that both the Record-Journal and the Westerly Sun have gone live on the new GN4 Editorial CMS. The project was completed in less than 90 days, and all print and digital channels have made the transition to Miles 33.

The system–which is deployed in the cloud– provides access for newsrooms located in Rhode Island and Connecticut, thus consolidating production into a single system. The new system allows all content contributors, editors, and producers to work in one environment for all publishing content and channels.

The GNWeb module, based on the award-winning Kentico technology, delivers a fully responsive user experience that elegantly adjusts to desktop, tablet and smartphone screen sizes, regardless of screen orientation, manufacturer or operating system platform.

The Newsroom Budgeting Module assists in the planning of resources and publishing content. All newsroom users can prepare content for the web, social media, and print. While each article can be released to every channel with a single click, channel-specific content can easily be identified within the article itself allowing for headlines, pictures or even body copy to appear different, depending on what channel they are published in.

The improvement in the preparation and creation of content for all channels, combined with the improved collaboration and task assignments, is already showing in the newsrooms. Pages are leaving the newsroom on time, or even early and website updates are frequent and take place throughout the day.

Liz White, Executive Vice President & Assistant Publisher, said “We are so pleased that Miles 33 is a true partner, not just a vendor. Their long-term strategic approach to providing innovative solutions for customers is what made them stand out during our selection process and they have delivered on that vision throughout our implementation process. They are creative and forward thinking and we look forward to working with them now and in the future.”

Ed Hubbard, VP of Business Development, Miles 33, added, “We are really excited about this new partnership with RJ Media Group. They have won numerous awards, and they take a progressive approach to maintain their leading position in the markets they serve. Miles 33 is already benefiting from this experience working with the management and staff of RJ Media Group.”

Also included in the order is the Auto-Pagination module, which will allow the newspapers to automate the page assembly process of standard pages, further increasing newsroom efficiencies and time savings.

The GN4 system replaces an older Newscycle system and includes an interface to the AdBase advertising system.
