‘Editorial Leaders’ initiative from the World Editors Forum and WAN-IFRA, is a module based training programme aimed at improving the knowledge of editors and journalists with mentorship.

The programme will develop future-ready editorial leaders and help news publishers create a pool of talent for the future.

The batch I,II and III saw participation from leading publishers namely - Ananda Vikatan, Dainik Bhaskar, Malayala Manorama, Prajavani, Sakal, Mathrubhmi, The Hindu, The Times of India, Sambad and The Daily Prothom Alo, Bangladesh and The Associated Newspapers (Ceylon), Sri Lanka and so on. The participants gained insights about trends and challenges and improved skills to face changing media landscape. 

The fourth batch will commence in May 2018. The first three modules will be held from 14 May - 19 May in Bengaluru and the final three modules will be held in Chennai from 18 June - 23 June 2018.

The modules will be led by best-in-class trainers and will address the new and changing needs of the readers, the skills needed to engage them with the publisher’s brand and the ways to gain advantage over old and new competitors.

The Editorial Leaders will have six modules 

Module 1: Audience Engagement & Digital Storytelling, 14 - 15 May 2018, Bengaluru

Workshop Leader: Dean Arnett, Ex-BBC, self-shoot documentary producer, trainer & storyteller.

Module 2: Data Journalism, 16 - 17 May, Bengaluru

Module 4: Social media engagement for news publishers, 18 - 19 June, Chennai

Workshop Leader: Corinne Podger, International multimedia journalism trainer, Australia.

Registrations open

A publisher can nominate up to 3 participants for each module.Publishers can nominate the same or a different person for each module.

Participants who complete all six modules successfully will be given a “Editorial Leader” master certificate.

Note: Only maximum of seven publishers will be accepted in the programme. Please confirm immediately.

Mentorship is newly included in the programme for a period of 6 months.

Fee for publishing companies: Will be announced soon.

A publisher can nominate up to 3 participants for each module. The above fee is for all the six modules ie for 18 participants.

Included in the price are the course fee, documentation, luncheon and beverages during breaks for all the six modules. Overseas praticpants have to pay in EUR
