Mansoor is the co-founder and editor in chief of Al Wasat, an independent Arabic-language newspaper in Bahrain that has regularly faced harassment and political intimidation. Though the Bahraini government forced him to resign during the April uprisings, the Board of Directors reinstated him a few months later. This year, Mansoor received the 2011 Committee to Protect Journalists International Press Freedom award.
He has authored two books in Arabic: Memories of Childhood (2007) and Interventions on Thought and Politics (2008). A mechanical engineer for 15 years, Mansoor obtained his doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of the West of Scotland (Paisley University).
