Interview with Mitsuo Kitai, TKS

IFRA Expo 2011

Mitsuo Kitai is Managing Director Sales for the Japanese press manufacturer TKS (Tokyo Kikai Seisakusho). In the interview which was held shortly before IFRA Expo 2011 started, M. Kitai provides information on the current trends and situation regarding newspaper presses in Asia and his company’s focus for this trade show.

WAN-IFRA: In your opinion, what are the three major trends in the newspaper industry today in Asia?

 MITSUO KITAI: The major trends for newspaper presses are the following:

  • Expansion of the need for large size and high-speed printing presses in India.(4x1, 4x2).
  • Expansion of the need for 2x2 presses equipped with high performance for newspaper and semi-commercial printing in China.
  • Digital printing press for newspapers, suitable for small circulation.


WAN-IFRA: What products and services will your company focus on at this year's IFRA Expo?

MITSUO KITAI: Our main focus will be on:

  • 4x1 printing press for the Indian market,
  • 2x2 printing presses for the Chinese market and
  • JETLEADER 1500, our digital printing press


WAN-IFRA: TKS recently developed an inkjet printing machine that is meant also for newspaper production. Will the machine be exhibited and running at the TKS booth?

MITSUO KITAI: The JETLEADER 1500 will not be exhibited at IFRA Expo 2011 but information will be available at our booth B455 in hall B. We will also demonstrate a live production (video) performed by JETLEADER 1500 at the new TKS factory Kazusa Techno Center.
