Rolling Meadows, IL, August 4, 2011 - alfaQuest Technologies is pleased to announce the completed installation and implementation of a centralized PrintExpress Consolidated Production Management system at E.W. Scripps.
E.W. Scripps has installed PrintExpress on redundant "Cloud" based servers to provide enterprise wide production management for their 13 daily properties located across 8 states. The E.W. Scripps PrintExpress system automatically routes incoming PDFs and PostScript pages based on established naming conventions to various processÕ such as RIPping using either Rational Tangent or Stochastic screening, Web Soft Proofing and Page Imposition/Pairing. The PrintExpress system utilizes alfaQuest's Ink Optimizer module for color ink savings of up to 25% at each site, and it calculates Ink Pre-Setting values for various press control systems. G4 compressed TIFFs are then automatically routed to the proper print site for plate making.
ÒE.W Scripps has been running PrintExpress in the cloud since November 2010. We presently have four sites live, one in testing and several more scheduled through Q1 2012. The PrintExpress cloud solution has proven to be rock solid, with 100% uptime and impressive performance with RIP times in seconds per page. The beauty is itÕs all running on one mirrored VM image in the cloud. Our system functionality includes software RIPs, fm/harmony screening, multiple instances of pairing and plate mergers, ink saving, ink presets and multiple TIFF exports,Ó said Mike Rzasa, Sr. Publishing Systems Manager for the E.W. Scripps Company. ÒalfaQuest is a great partner in this cutting edge technology and provides a vital piece to our larger cloud initiative.
