He joined the management of Medienhaus Lensing in Dortmund in 1957 and headed the Lensing companies in the third generation from 1965 on. Over four decades he built up the newspaper publishing company to the leading media house in Westphalia. In 1998 his son, Lambert, joined the management and is responsible today for the further development of the media company. Up to the end, Florian Lensing-Wolff closely followed the fortunes of the media house.

Florian Lensing-Wolff was for many years active on the Board of the Northrhine-Westphalia Newspaper Publishers' Association (ZVNRW). He was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Northrhine-Westphalia in 1989. He was  Vice President of the European Newspaper Publishers' Association (ENPA) and member of the IFRA Board (joining in 1983). In addition, he took a seat on the supervisory council of the Deutsche Presseagentur (dpa) and was its chairman from1991 to 1996.
